Common reasons people call us
The car won't start in the morning, or after a long trip away. A tyre has gone flat on the way to work. A warning light has come on and the car has lost power. The engine is overheating. There's been a minor bump and the car isn't safe to drive. You've come back to the airport car park and nothing happens when you turn the key.
Whatever it is, you don't need to know what's wrong before you call. Describe what's happening and we'll work out the next step together.
Why call a local firm
We're based at Tednambury Farm in Spellbrook, just outside Bishop's Stortford, close to the A1184 and the M11. We know these roads, the lay-bys and the places where it's safe to stop, which makes it easier to find you and help you quickly.
When you call T&O Recovery, you're not put through to a national call centre that passes your job on. You speak to us, and we're the ones who come out.
If you already have breakdown cover
It's worth checking with your provider first. If they can't get to you quickly, or you'd rather deal with a local firm directly, call us at any time. There's no membership or sign-up: you pay us for the job you need. After a bump, our minor accident guide covers what to do first.
Staying safe while you wait
Put your hazard lights on, get out on the side away from the traffic if it's safe to do so, and wait behind a barrier or up the verge, away from the vehicle. On a motorway, use an emergency area if you can reach one. If you can't get to a safe place, stay in the vehicle with your seatbelt on and call 999.
